Purple DAO

This proposal funds the sponsorship of an NFT NYC Farcaster Meetup. The meetup will be hosted in partnership with OrangeDAO, who has helped secure a location. The requested budget for this event is 0.8 ETH.

Description

NFT NYC is one of the biggest events of the year. Being in the heart of one of the major hubs in crypto, NYC is a great location to meet and collaborate with other builders in the Ecosystem. NFT NYC also attracts non-Ethereum users which could be a great way to find newer members from different walks of life into the Farcaster ecosystem.

In order to proliferate awareness of the Farcaster protocol, we propose to hold a Farcaster meetup at the tail end (April 15) of NFT NYC 2023.

Partnership

OrangeDAO has been a great partner, and helped organize the ETHDenver Farcaster meetup because it was such a big success they’ve decided to partner with us again for this event as well. They’ve offered to use their location in Manhattan with some associated costs.

Orange is a 1300+ member DAO, that primarily focuses on funding and supporting early-stage web3 startups. They are one of the most active DAOs on Farcaster (outside of Purple), showing an interest in the protocol and it’s ecosystem.

With over 30 RSVPs, an EventCaster page set up, promoted on Farcaster, and a dedicated Telegram group. We are already gaining traction for this meet up, and expect to get more as the date gets closer.

Budget

We’ve already secured a location thanks to OrangeDAO’s generous offer to use their workspace. The following budget is an estimated breakdown:

• Services Fees: $1000
• $20 x 150 (estimated attendance): $3,000
• Total: $4,000

Luckily, we’ve already received a donation of 1 ETH from @osama, $1,250 from combined donations from @df, @j4ck, and @matt.

$4,000 - ~$2950 (donations) = $1,050 remaining which approximates to about 0.62 ETH at proposal time. We are asking for 0.7 ETH to hedge against market volatility.

The funds will be allocated to a new Events multisig, which will reimburse event organizers upon proof-of-receipt. Reimbursements must take place within 90 days of the conclusion of ETHDenver.

All remaining funds (if any), will be sent back to the Purple treasury by the multisig.

Events Multsig

A new 3 of 4 multisig has been created in anticipation of this proposal. All members have agreed to review and approve/deny reimbursement requests on behalf of the DAO. Approvals should take place in a timely manner. If, for some unforeseen reason, a signer can not complete the duties outlined above, a replacement may be chosen by the remaining multisig signers.
