Summary

Everyone in this wonderful little community of ours shares the need for more awareness of Public Nouns and how a more active Twitter presence is a key starting point.

Nigel Dollentas (https://discord.com/channels/1019622975705726986/1027335025265475654/1067219205503598742) has run socials in the past for portfolio companies of mine like Pocket Network and Tenderize, as well as DeFi protocols like Yearn. He’s interested in public goods and knows how to find the right memes and fun messaging to engage with communities.

Impact

Our Public Nouns Twitter is extremely quiet. And we aren’t maximising the opportunities to engage with the public to raise awareness for our mission.

Low hanging fruits include engaging with our partner public goods communities and amplifying obvious wins for the community, such as Public Nouns art being showcased in the Colorado State Capitol and podcasts like the recent one with Giveth.

I think this is a low outlay for a relatively high impact.

Budget

Asking for 6 months of this upfront as a test budget.

This would be for $500 / month for a tweet of at least one tweet a day, as well as some additional work to coordinate efforts around any campaigns that Public Nouns run from time to time, as well as any additional initiatives with our PGCs.

I will set up a multi sig managed by me and at least 4 other community members to coordinate the initial payments to Nigel, unless we decide to use the pnounders one instead.

I think we should donate him a Public Noun from the treasury if we keep him on for more than a few months. I may donate him one of my Public Nouns in the interim period, as it would be easier for all to have him in the DAO members section of the discord.

Dissenting Opinions

We shouldn’t pay out operational costs using the DAO’s treasury.

While I like the idea of this in principle. Unfortunately, we, don’t have any other funding sources at the moment. And until we raise more awareness for Public Nouns, this is unlikely to change, so we are in a bit of a chicken and egg problem.

Someone from the DAO should do this

That would be ideal! Please raise your hand if you’re willing to take this on. If you don’t have time to do this yourself on a daily basis but do have some expertise, please - if this proposal passes - help with onboarding Nigel so we make the most of his time.

Deliverable(s)

I initially suggested at least one or two tweets a day, with a more intensive campaign once a month that would be more involved.

Nigel is very relaxed and a hard worker, so I see this as an emergent process that will get better over time. Our downside is limited to $500/month.

Feedback loop

I’m happy to be Nigel’s main liaison as we already have a prior working relationship. However, in an ideal world, someone else would take this on, so Nigel has multiple contact points in the DAO. We should review his output every week, and course adjust as necessary
