Summary

• Blocks.garden is a new fun and engaging way to #MakeCryptoGreen, starting from Ethereum 1 Proof-of work

• 💡 inspired by the million $ homepage, when you buy a pixel on the canvas where you can put your brand, you are also getting a Green-NFT that provably decarbonizes the energy consumption of a specific block in the blockchain with Renewable Energy ⚡♻️ (through our tokenize Renewable Energy certificates)

• the Green-NFT is a soulbound token that forever marks the beneficiary as a “Green Hero”, which is a reputation score that can can be used in other public goods contexts

• 👉 We’re proposing Public Nouns to be a launch partner of this movement by getting a “Garden Plot” (a group of pixels on the canvas)

• by getting a Block.garden plot Public Nouns is

  1. decarbonizing a part of ETH1 historical emissions and supporting the cause
  2. giving Public Nouns visibility in this cool project (that everyone is going to be talking about)

How does this initiative support Public Goods?

Blocks.garden helps 2 public goods that are both non-rivalrous and non-excludable:

• ⧫ Ethereum
• and the🔥🌍  enviroment (possibly the meta-public-good no other can exist without, and that right now is in urgent need of quick and serious help.)

This is an act of public service:

1. Because we need to act fast to decrease global emissions (by 40% before 2030) if we don’t want to overshoot the limit of 1.5˚ C set by the Paris agreement, a limit that is considered already catastrophic by the IPCC.
2. Because we have an opportunity to flip the narrative vis a vis of naysayers and regulators, and show that crypto is also a force for good, and that decentralised technology can help better coordinate people and capitals around public goods
3. Decarbonizing Ethereum-1 historical consumption and emissions would lead the conversation and show the world and other industries what needs to be done.

💸 Why does it need funding right now?

we’re launching next week + to solve climate change we should have started acting yesterday… or 10 years ago. Blocks.garden is accelerating adoption of provably green crypto now

💥 Impact

• 🌿 Public Nouns would actually be decarbonizing a % of Ethereum blocks (for the 16 blocks it would be making 224,64 MWh of Ethereum’s historical emissions green)

• 📣 this story will have huge repercussion and exposure across the crypto space and in traditional media too. The story hooks strongly on 2 current hot debates, that of the climate crisis and the regulation of crypto:

• 💡 owning a permanent advertising space in Blocks.garden Public nouns could use it to experiment visibility campaigns, advertise the current auction, or showcase projects it wants to amplify (the content can be changed)

🚚 Deliverables

Public Nouns would get

• some Blocks NFTs in the Day1-the Merge canvas, where to exhibit content, probably in the public goods cluster near Nick Johnson of ENS, and Fracton Ventures (aka Public Nouns 24)
• some Green NFTs (tokenized Renewable Energy Certificates) that prove green a certain amount of energy consumed by Ethereum 1 proof of work before the merge. – green NFTs will mark Public Nouns as a Green Hero, give the DAO governance rights in this protocol and potentially in other public good contexts where we are going to push for adoption

♻️ Feedback Loop

Blocks.garden aligns with and can enhance the memetic nature of the (Public) Nouns model, because it’s inherently an advertising canvas where to showcase the Public Nouns brand, the current PN live auction or any of the projects the DAO will manage to support.
