Purpose -

To establish Public Nouns as the first DAO to hold $EARTH in its treasury, supporting climate-positive projects that serve humanity’s core needs through a regenerative economic framework. This contribution would signal Public Nouns’ commitment to supporting innovative web3 experiments on funding climate solutions that generate ecological and social public goods.

Problem Statement

Climate Finance Gap: To address climate change comprehensively, we need a full-scale transformation of infrastructure supporting core human needs. Current estimates suggest that this transformation requires $4-5 trillion annually over the next 30 years, while only $1-1.5 trillion is currently mobilized—leaving a $3-3.5 trillion gap annually. Misaligned Economic Incentives: Our current economic system fails to account for the value of ecosystems and their services, creating incentives for unsustainable resource extraction, deforestation, soil degradation, and biodiversity loss. $EARTH Goals-

Close the Climate Finance Gap: Each dollar used to mint $EARTH directly funds climate-positive projects. Value Ecology in the Economy: Minting $EARTH comes with a premium that reflects the value of the positive externalities, such as ecosystem services, created by assets in our treasury. Promote a Solarpunk Economy: We aim to create $EARTH utility with merchants who uphold solarpunk values, thereby value aligning each economic interaction.

Request

We are requesting 5 ETH from Public Nouns to be converted into DAI and used to mint $EARTH. The corresponding DAI will be allocated to the following projects:

Vegetable and Fruit farm in India - Urban Kheti is an organization dedicated towards creating vegetable farms/food forests using regenerative practices in urban landscapes. They practice the following regenerative practices while undertaking projects - Cover cropping, No till farming,Biodiversity conservation by planting native species according to seasons, Rain water harvesting where possible, Educating local communities in regenerative practices, Local food systems for better nutrition, resellience and ecological benefit. They have worked on 28 such sites so far from 2018 onwards and have successfully regenerated over 300,00 sq ft of land. This land parcel will be transformed into a thriving ecosystem where we plant indigenous vegetables, herbs and fruit according to prevalent seasons. Fresh produce from this urban farm will find its way to the local market. Goal here is to create an urban oasis where we can invite city dwellers over the weekends to get their hands dirty at the farm, rebuild their connection to the food production process, create a steady supply of nutrient rich produce and hopefully inspire others to create more urban farms wherever possible

Eco Village in Portugal - Traditional Dream factory is building a 5-hectare regenerative landscape. Designed to serve as a sustainable and eco-friendly space for the local community. Currently, the site features:

A thriving food forest with over 2,000 trees, providing fruits like citrus, and fostering biodiversity. An industrial kitchen for community meals and food production. Glamping accommodations for visitors seeking immersive experiences in nature. A makerspace for innovative agricultural and crafting activities. A market garden, which supplies fresh produce to nourish the community. The long-term vision includes planting an additional 10,000 trees, including almonds, olives, and berries, to further enhance the ecosystem’s productivity. Water retention systems and biochar production are integrated into the project to improve land hydration, sequester carbon, and boost soil health. This project is committed to building a solarpunk future where regenerative landscapes not only sustain the environment but also nourish and empower local communities.

Execution

• Conversion to DAI: The 5 ETH contributed by Public Nouns will be converted to DAI and used to mint $EARTH. This process is managed by an established Node of $EARTH (solarpunkmaxi.eth), who will receive and mint the tokens as per protocol.
• Fund Allocation to Projects: The DAI will be allocated to the three projects outlined above. Both on-chain proof of transactions and off chain project progress will be provided to ensure transparency.
• $EARTH Transfer to Public Nouns: The $EARTH minted from Public Nouns’ contribution will be transferred to their multisig here - Public Nouns Garden Council Safe on Polygon (PoS): https://app.safe.global/settings/setup?safe=matic:0x4201698F2a7389d6e85d7c4B799BE8aEB3cF0d62. This transfer will represent Public Nouns’ stake in $EARTH, backed by real-world assets that are addressing climate change.

Whats in it for PUBLIC NOUNS ?

Supporting Ecological and Social Public Goods with $EARTH Solar Projects create cleaner air and decentralized energy, lessening dependency on fossil fuels. Urban Farming increases biodiversity, enriches soil, and enhances food resilience through regenerative practices. Eco Village initiatives foster community spirit, rainwater harvesting, and well-being while sequestering carbon.

Assuming a $3000/ETH rate and $10/EARTH , 5 ETH will mint 1500 $EARTH. We will transfer 1000 $EARTH to Public Nouns Gardens Council Safe and the remaining 500 $EARTH we intend to run contests where we can promote Public Nouns to $EARTH community and enable some healthy cross pollination between our communities. The Gardens Council Safe will steward the 1000 $EARTH and use it to grow Public Nouns however it deems fit.

Mention Public Nouns in all our posts about funding these projects. At the very least you can expect 10 posts from our end mentioning Public Nouns as the funder and Public Nouns becoming the first DAO ever to hold $EARTH in their treasury.
