This contribution supports the development and operations of Gardens v2 - and gives the Public Nouns community some really awesome perks and benefits on the platform when released (scheduled September 2024), which Public Nouns can then use to experiment with for public goods funding.

Proposal Rationale & Details

Gardens v2 is a modular coordination mechanism that specializes in Conviction Voting. The platform helps communities and ecosystems use their resources to grow public goods as effectively as possible.

Gardens emphasizes a community experience that’s healthy, fun, intuitive, secure, and open.

The platform is designed to improve the ROI of spending on public goods for communities and ecosystems - starting in web3 and then eventually for the entire economy. Gardens’ modular conviction voting framework helps with:

• Resisting voter manipulation & gaming common in many decentralized funding mechanisms through time-weighted support and proposal disputability.
• Reducing friction and administrative overhead common in many centralized funding mechanisms through continuous, parameterized funding.
• Improving funding accountability through modularity, enabling many narrowly defined funding scopes to be run at the same time.

Here are the perks for the Public Nouns community as a Gardens Protopian:

• Create a community in Gardens v2 where members pay no Protocol Fees
• Premium community placement on the Gardens token ecosystem page
• A share of 4.5% of all Gardens Protocol Fees, split between all Protopians

A quick note on Gardens v2 fees - there are 2 types of fees in Gardens v2: Community and Protocol Fees. Community Fees are optionally set on the creation of a community along with a beneficiary address, and are paid by community members on registration to support the community itself. Protocol fees go to the Gardens platform, and are also paid by users when joining a community. Beekeeper and Protopian NFTs don’t affect a Gardens community’s ability to collect Community Fees from its members.

^ to use the Gardens platform as a public good, communities can select no fees on creation of the community.

Here’s the breakdown of where funding from the Juicebox campaign goes (screenshot attached):

• 50% - Future Token Liquidity - reserved to be added as community-owned liquidity for an eventual Gardens token.
• 35% - Gardens Operations - funds operational expenses including contributor compensation and platform expenses. Our contributor pay spreadsheet is publicly viewable.
• 10% - 1Hive - goes to the DAO that incubated Gardens.
• 5% - Security Audit - funds an audit to uncover potential bugs and vulnerabilities in Gardens smart contracts.
