This proposal will act as an impact fund for Costa Rica, using matching funding mechanisms & trusted locals to help deliver impact to communities on the ground.

How does this initiative support Public Goods?

By seeding funds for local organizations to host events & activations we show that crypto can help move the world forward, create real world impact, and lay the foundation for future relationships that lift up the entire country.

How is it non-excludable? Anyone who is interested can apply, and receive matching funding through the Artizen platform.

How is it non-rivalrous? The collective match funding does not take funds away from any single project, it allocates a larger portion of the match pool across projects as more donation come in.

Why does it need funding right now? Our community of Web3 natives has established a base in Costa Rica, known as MetaCampus, where we’re developing relationships with local businesses, community members + onboarding people into Web3. We know of many initiatives who could use these funds regenerate their local communities and start new businesses using web3.

Impact/Deliverables We will fund at least 3 project in the region, such as Futuro Nativo , Upe, Amigos Riomachuca we plan to walk these communities through the onboarding process to setup grants and share their impact. Projects ranges from empowering local data stewardship to developing infrastructural projects.

Feedback Loop We plan to do a write up after the campaign is closed (May 15th - August 1st) + periodic updates with photos from the projects as funding is distributed.

Mechanisms

We plan to use Artizen fund, a grant matching program that allocates funds from their partners like Microsoft, Sundance Films, & Protocol Labs to increase the amount of funding available to these projects.

Some other comparable campaigns are the Funding the Commons, where the inital 5 ETH pool was matched by $350k in sponsor and donor funds, was raised by 75 projects via the matching pool

Conclusion

Partnering with grants matching programs such as Gitcoin, Giveth, and now Artizen is a great way to get the most impact out of any grant and should be a focus and a priority for Public Nouns, as the treasury is small and constantly being depleted by proposals, if this season of grants goes well I could see more avenues for generating impact for local communities including bringing more crypto-native payment solutions to businesses in across the region, collecting and preserving cultural artifacts, and raising funds for communities outside of Costa Rica as part of MetaCamps mission to develop regenerative global communities expands : )
