Ratification Poll for the MakerDAO Delegates MIP Set - September 12, 2022

The Governance Facilitators have placed a ratification poll into the voting system as part of the responsibilities defined in MIP51. This Governance Poll will be active for fourteen days beginning on Monday, September 12 at 16:00 UTC.

This is a binary vote.

• You may vote for a single option.
• You should vote for the option which you prefer.
• If you would accept either option, you should vote ‘Abstain’.

Review

The community may vote in this poll to express support or opposition to the MakerDAO Delegates MIP Set (MIP77, MIP78, MIP79) being accepted and implemented in the Maker Protocol.

This MIP Set will supersede MIP61: Recognized Delegate Compensation, if it passes.

MIP77: Delegates in the Maker Protocol

A brief summary of this proposal has been provided by the MIP Author and is shown below:

“MIP77 provides a base definition of the role of delegates within the Maker Protocol. In addition, it delineates the key distinctions between a Shadow Delegate and a Recognized Delegate. MIP77 outlines how any individual or group may become a Recognized Delegate and the metrics used to monitor Recognized Delegates. MIP77 acts as a foundation for further iteration on the role of Recognized Delegates as the Maker Protocol matures.”

MIP78: Recognized Delegate DAI Compensation

A brief summary of this proposal has been provided by the MIP Author and is shown below:

“MIP78 defines the Maker Protocol’s process to award DAI compensation to Recognized Delegates. Governance Facilitators will compute and send the compensation to Recognized Delegates starting from the MIP ratification date, with quarterly payments. These payments will be made in dedicated Executive Votes.”

MIP79: Recognized Delegate MKR Compensation

Outcomes

This poll implements a Minimum Positive Participation value. The Minimum Positive Participation is currently set to 10,000 MKR.

If the votes for the ‘Yes’ option exceed the votes for the ‘No’ option AND the votes for the ‘Yes’ option exceed 10,000 MKR, then the following actions will be taken:

• The MIP Editors will mark these proposals Accepted and the Governance Facilitators will confirm their passage on the Governance and Risk call on Thursday, September 29.
• The MIP Editors will mark [MIP61: Recognized Delegate Compensation]((https://mips.makerdao.com/mips/details/MIP61) Obsolete.
• Any further work required to implement these proposals will be tasked to the relevant Core Units.

Otherwise, this proposal will be marked as rejected per MIP51.
