3D Lil NOUNS GENERATOR MVP TL;DR Build a 3D Lil Nouns generator MVP (Minimum Viable Product) and create a 15 second promotional video that Lil Nouns can share on Twitter.

ORIGIN OF THE PROJECT Community feedback suggested the size and scope of prop 34 was too large as a percentage of the Lil Nouns Treasury, so we are now putting forward a minimal version, with the possibility of a full version in the future. We really want to build for Lil Nouns DAO and show that we are willing to listen and work with the community to provide value. Based on many public and private discussions, we believe we can turn this proposal into something the community fully supports. Being invested in Lil Nouns, we also want to understand the DAO’s position when it comes to fund builders and we are running this experiment to further the discussion about the DAO’s mission.

WHAT IS IT By creating a stripped down version and offering promotional video content, we hope to show that a 3D Lil Nouns web application will generate value for the community. Being CC0, we believe one of the leading goals for Lil Nouns should be to proliferate their brand and influence out into the world. Based on the response to 3D Nouns, a 3D Lil Nouns generator would be a fantastic tool for that, while also encouraging other developers and creators to come and build for the community.
It would extend the Lil Nouns ecosystem into the 3D world and allows for animations, games, renders and more to be built using the exported model files. It opens up a world of possibilities for the Lil Nouns ecosystem, which will result in more derivatives and more memes over time. One example using 3D Nouns is Xanadu’s recent video on twitter where he animates the 3D nouns models using motion capture. Pretty cool! See Blu @pwnelon on Twitter.

VALUE PROPOSITION Nouns success is largely based on the proliferation of Nouns out into the community via proposals, small or large. We believe that props being deployed for Lil Nouns elevates the status and legitimacy of the brand, and encourages other developers to build on top of it. Web applications that further spread and proliferate the brand are one of the best ways to grow Lil nouns, as people can access them from anywhere at any time. On top of that, we are convinced 3D Lil Nouns can unlock the “Hello Kitty” potential of the brand since seeing them animated in 3D is appealing to a wider audience. Our team is supported by the NounsDAO and larger NFT twitter accounts, and has demonstrated our ability to execute well. One year after being funded, 3D Nouns continues to be used by the community (both the application and the 3D assets) to drive value to NounsDAO. 3D Nouns has had numerous large accounts express interest and receive a 3D Noun model to display in different 3D environments (Deeze, Farokh, Benito from RTFKT, Bharat, and more), and we see the same thing happening with 3D Lil Noun models. 3D Nouns also provides long term value to NounsDAO, even a year after being funded (see Xanadu). Builders building on top of builders. We believe 3D Lil Nouns would have a similar ripple effect. Additionally, the next logical step is to have 3D Lil Nouns running around in the metaverse. 3D interoperable metaverses will happen sooner than we think, and with the models available, Lil Nouns can be easily ported across numerous platforms. The Otherside from BAYC plans to offer a SDK that will be compatible with outside 3D models, and 3D Lil Nouns will be ready to go. It is important to position ourselves to be future proof.

SCOPE OF THE PROJECT In order to build a 3D Lil Nouns web application, we need: 1) Sample size of 20 Lil Nouns traits (20 heads, 20 accessories, etc) recreated in 3D. The scale of Lil Nouns is different from Nouns, so unfortunately we’re unable to use the models from 3D Nouns and will need to remodel them. 2) 3D web application similar to https://3dnouns.com/. This will be a minimal, stripped down version that allows the user to completely customize their 3D Lil Noun from the available traits and download the model as a GLTF file and can be imported into Blender and converted to other popular formats like .obj and .fbx depending on the user’s needs and modeling softwares. The site will be hosted on 3DLilnouns.com which has already been acquired. 3) 15 seconds promotional video advertising the 3D Lil Nouns project and application for Lil Nouns to promote on social media. Lil Nouns prop house previously funded us to make a promotional 3D Lil Nouns video https://prop.house/proposal/541 that was well received and viewed over 6000 times.

PROJECT TIMELINE Based on the work completed for 3D Nouns, we estimate development will take around 3 to 4 weeks. After completion of this proposal, another discussion will be started with the Lil Nouns community to gauge the impact and success of the project, and see if the community is interested in funding the full version of the project. If the community does decide to fund a full version of the project in the future, the cost of this proposal will be subtracted from the cost of the full scale, fully featured version of the application.

WHO IS BUILDING THIS - Coral Orca https://twitter.com/coralorca Coral Orca is the creator behind 3D Nouns and is responsible for all assets, animations, level design, and general look and feel of the application as well as marketing and business development. He has been active in the nouns community since june 2021 as its first builder, and has contributed to the project via collaborations with SharkDAO, published AR filters that were used by VaynerNFT and Budlight, and is also a founding member of the Nouncil. 3D Nouns Figurines collectors include Deeze, Benito from RTFKT, and Bharat Krymo to cite a few. - 0xFloyd https://twitter.com/0xFloyd 0xFloyd will be responsible for development of the web application. 0xFloyd is currently employed as a full time software engineer working at a startup in Web3. Floyd has been a part of the Nouns community since Day 1, and has worked on numerous different projects in the Nouns ecosystem. Along with building 3D Nouns (3Dnouns.com) with Coral Orca for NounsDAO Proposal 2, 0xFloyd was the frontend engineer for NounsDAO Proposal 3, Nouns Party (available at nouns.party), and helped make significant contributions to the Nounify app (available at nounify.wtf) with @12bnoun and @lastpunk9999.

COMPENSATION We are asking for a total of 10 ETH to be transferred in one full payment upon successful proposal vote. 10 ETH for asset modeling and V1 of the web application as detailed in the scope of the project section, and an accompanying 15 second promotional video advertising 3D Lil Nouns and the 3D Lil Nouns generator for Lil Nouns to post and advertise on social media.
