STORY BEHIND THE PROP For years now people of Orudu (rural community) in Ogun state Nigeria lack clean water, the water used for domestic duties is Ogun state river water, and this dirty water allows serious diseases to occur.

Objective: To establish a cost-effective and sustainable water supply by installing a borehole with a solar-powered pump. This prop aims to provide reliable access to clean water in areas facing water scarcity or inconsistent supply, while utilizing renewable solar energy to minimize operating costs and environmental impact.

Prop Overview: This proposal involves drilling a borehole, installing a solar pump, and setting up basic infrastructure for water storage and distribution. Solar-powered pumps are ideal for remote or off-grid areas because they rely on renewable energy, reducing the need for electricity or fuel. Water will be stored in an elevated tank for easy distribution to the community.

To provide clean water for the Orudu community, this proposal will provide:

1. Bore hole :For extraction and supply and purification of the water through Chlorination. Chlorination is a chemical treatment method that introduces chlorine into borehole water to disinfect it. Chlorine effectively kills bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms, making the water safe for consumption. This method is especially important for borehole water intended for drinking or human use. It also helps control algae growth and addresses some taste and odor issues.
2. Iron pole or concrete decking : for holding the weight of the water filled in the tank .
3. Solar pump installation : used to bring energy to power the pumping machine
4. Tank : used for storing water.
5. Tiles : For beautification
6. Pipes : For conveyance of water

+ other materials like sand, cement, block and more.

Training and Maintenance:

• Train community members on operating and maintaining the system.
• Develop a maintenance plan for regular upkeep( handling over to the community leader after completion for proper upkeep)

• Sustainability: Using solar energy lowers operating costs and promotes environmental sustainability.
