Lil Poker: a fun way to proliferate Lils

tl:dr - new approach to proliferating Lil Nouns via a streamed poker game utilizing Poker Now and GM Farcaster Network to reach a wider audience for Lil Nouns and support builders by creating a new platform for amplification. This approach seeks to:

• promote Lil Nouns with visual branding and showing the auction during the show hopefully leading to increased auction participation
• provide new benefits to holding a Lil Noun such as an opportunity to promote Lil Nouners’ projects/props
• a community touch point for announcements as well as a fun interaction

As the Lil Nouns Show reaches the end of their current run, Nounish Prof had an idea to increase reach with a fresh approach: have the hosts play poker while covering the market report and interviewing builders.

Lil Poker will be a weekly streamed poker game using PokerNow.com and GM Farcaster Network’s Streamyard and socials to expand Lil Nouns amplification. 4 regular cohosts will play each week alongside up to 6 other selected players, all of which MUST hold a Lil Noun to play. The game/interview show will be streamed live on The Lil Nouns Show Twitter, GM Farcaster YouTube, and GM Farcaster’s Unlonley channel (as well as guest socials if they want) and will be dropped after as an NFT podcast on Zora, as well as GM Farcaster’s podcast streams/RSS.

Each player will have a buy in of 1000 $nogs with the winning player taking the full 10000 $nogs as the prize. For this initial run, Prof will cover the buy in. We are also budgeting for one Lil Noun as part of the prize pool, selecting the Lil Noun from the new vrgda buy now at the beginning of the show. Additional prizes may be built into game play. (working on other sponsorship/additional prize pool). The real prize of course is bragging rights.

Run of Show

The show will take the place of The Lil Nouns Show and will run weekly on Wednesdays at 5:30 pm ET tentatively starting August 21 for initial 6 week run.

• 6:30: Closing Credits video roll (Prof)

Players/Team

4 regular cohosts will play each week and will manage the show flow and provide the content:

6 additional players will be selected to play each week by applying via a token-gated Deform with preference given to holders who are building in web3. Players must hold a Lil Noun to apply. These seats will rotate and the team will be doing guest outreach and booking to ensure an entertaining and interesting group of players. This will be streamed so preference may be given to players who are willing to go on camera but anon/pfp audio only will be an option.

Mechanics

Using PokerNow.club plus account (Prof) we’ll be able to customize the table with Lil Nouns branding as seen in the image above. The show will be streamed using Streamyard (GM Farcaster/Prof) which allows for streaming to multiple destinations at the same time so we’ll be on Twitter, YouTube and could also stream into the Lil Nouns Discord at the same time allowing for a wider audience. A pre-roll video with Lil Nouns sponsor info and a closing credits video will start and end the show.

The show will be recorded automatically via Streamyard and dropped as an NFT on Zora as well as web2 distribution in the GM Farcaster podcast stream as bonus episodes, with the recording appearing on Spotify, Apple etc. The live stream will also automatically remain on Twitter and YouTube for future viewing.

The core team of cohosts will select the players and try to create a mix of builders in the Lil Nouns ecosystem.

This will start as an 6 week experiment to work out the details and iterate where necessary. Prize Pool will be held at LilPoker.eth. The final week will be a championship game of the winners from the other 5 weeks.

GM Farcaster production and promotion of show

GM Farcaster Network will produce and distribute the show utilizing our tools and distribution network. GM Farcaster (founded and hosted by @nounishprof and @adrienne) is a morning news show highlighting news from the Farcaster ecosystem, streaming three times a week, as well as producing other shows including the recent CastOut Survivor inspired competition show. GM Farcaster began in September 2023 and has been steadily growing its audience and has launched a media network to highlight other creators in the Farcaster ecosystem. Sponsors have included Pinata, Matcha.xyz, Dynamic and Bolide. GM Farcaster also streamed episode 100 from FarCon with Farcaster cofounders @dwr and @v.

In addition to producing the Lil Poker show, GM Farcaster will promote the show on Wednesday mornings by integrating Lil Nouns as a 6 week Wednesday sponsor so that Lil Nouns branding will be prominent on GM Farcaster throughout the Lil Poker Show run. This sponsorship will be complimentary for this 6 week run only as part of the production fee.

Additional possible integrations/sponsorships

Prof is in discussions with the Bracket.Game team to create a bracket for Lil Poker for the final game that would allow for free packs to Lil Nouns holders and opportunity to back your favorite player. (tentative – more info if secured)

In addition, other sponsorships will be sought to add to the prize pool or audience giveaways each week or to purchase additional Lil Nouns on auction as audience giveaways. (e.g. if a channel like /tabletop wants to promote on the show, they donate a hypersub subscription in exchange; or if Gloom or Pluto Cats wanted to sponsor, an nft could be donated).

We’ll also run an art contest using rounds.wtf in the new /lilpoker channel to help promote the show with the team selecting one of the top 3 as the show cover art.

What do we hope to accomplish?

During this initial 6 week run, we’ll measure success on multiple fronts:

• Grow /lilpoker and /lilnounsdao Warpcast channels and @lilnouns account with a goal of 10% increase in channel and profile followers during the 6 week run.
• Auctions: we hope to see a 10% increase in auction activity during this time period. (10% more than 2024 average)

These targets are manageable but stretch goals will be 20% increase in auctions/secondary sales.

In addition, we believe the biggest benefit will come to builders in the Lil Nouns ecosystem, providing them another proliferation opportunity and hopefully activitating inactive Lil Nouns builders who may see this opportunity as a benefit to getting more active in the DAO. Plus the art contest at kick off should provide additional proliferation as well as an opportunity for artists to get involved.

Budget

Show Hosts and Management - total 3 ETH: The 4 weekly hosts (Prof, English, Cardno, Hudah) will distribute .5 eth weekly via coordinape or similar mechanic amongst the team members participating that week to produce the content for the show. Funds will be held in a multi-sig.

Show Production and promotion by GM Farcaster Network: 3 ETH (2 ETH per month for 1.5 months) Production includes streaming of the show; creation of video pre-roll and credits; securing lilpoker.eth; securing and management of /lilpoker Warpcast channel; management of prize pool; promotion of show; post show production of recordings and NFT distribution; podcast distribution.

Lil Nouns auction - 1 ETH to acquire a Lil Noun on auction during each show which will be given to the winner of the game and provide a demo of the new VRDGA auction. If the winner of the game if one of the 4 team members, the Lil Noun will be given to an audience member (via POAP raffle). This budget is set at 6 Lil Nouns @ .15 ETH plus gas but should these auctions go for less, any remaining funds will be returned to the treasury.

Lil Poker art round - 1 ETH: to kick off the show, an art contest will kick off in /lilpoker using rounds.wtf with a .4 rounds pool and additional .1 eth to 6 winners selected by the team from the top 10 for the show’s cover art and POAPs.
