Proposal Overview

I’m seeking funding to expand the Lil Nouns brand on Farcaster through the Lil Nouns Lab. My goal is to build tools within the Farcaster ecosystem to boost engagement and support other Lil Nouns initiatives on the platform. The total ask is 6.9 ETH, respecting the meme, but significantly less considering the efforts already made and those planned, mindful of our minimal treasury. Unlike those who continually ask for money before showing results, this proposal is like the overachieving sibling who already has trophies to show off, backed by substantial retroactive work and proven impact. Despite the recent decline in ETH prices, I have not adjusted the funding request, underscoring my commitment to delivering value. Approximately 10-20% of the cost is allocated to infrastructure and services that will be used. This funding aims to sustain the Lil Nouns Lab until the end of 2024.

Engaging Our Community

Anyone who’s been part of a community knows that staying connected with existing members is more rewarding and important than constantly seeking new ones. Over the past year, we’ve realized that our current members, our “Lil Nouners,” are our greatest asset. Those who have already contributed their time and money to our community are far more likely to contribute again to the DAO compared to attracting new contributors. By engaging our existing members more deeply, we also create ambassadors who can attract new members through their enthusiasm and commitment. My mission is to rekindle those connections and bring back the excitement and engagement among Lil Nouners who might have drifted away. It’s about nurturing and strengthening the bonds we’ve already built and ensuring the proliferation of our community’s values and initiatives.

Current Reach and Potential

Farcaster data reveals that over 700 Lil Nouners have verified their wallets on the platform, representing a third of all Lil Noun holders. The Lil Nouns Lab aims to enhance engagement within this social network by connecting with these members.

Progress and Achievements

This initiative has not been funded so far and has been retroactive since year-to-date. All progress and achievements have been made without prior funding, demonstrating our commitment and the initiative’s potential impact. Over the past year, I’ve engaged with many less active Lil Nouners on Farcaster, experimenting with various tools to revive community engagement. Here’s what I’ve accomplished:

• Developed numerous bots, channel automations, frames, and tools, open-sourcing some and planning to do more as they mature.
• Driven thousands of views to our frontend, as confirmed by Google Analytics and UTM link results.
• Launched DC-based notifications, our most recent initiative, which has already shown a reasonable impact.

These efforts have significantly boosted monthly voter turnout, which is now almost double compared to the last months of 2023. By reaching out to less active members, I’ve brought back votes and solved issues through suggestions and feedback from the community.

Deliverables and My Next Steps Include:

• A full operational version of DC-based notifications for Lil Nouns events (governance, calls, etc.) tailored to user preferences.
• A VRGDA auction frame for accessing auctions through Farcaster.
• An open-source configurable base automation framework for each of our several Lil Nouns channels on Farcaster, customizable based on each channel’s needs.
• Development of token-gated features based on Farcaster infrastructure (currently under development by Farcaster) to enhance user access and engagement.

There are additional deliverables planned, but I am cautious about overpromising. My history of delivery, however, shows a pattern of overdelivering.

Expected Outcomes and Impact Metrics

• Increased engagement and activity within the Lil Nouns community on Farcaster, measured by growth in active users and interaction frequency.
• Boosted voter turnout, with sustained improvements in participation rates.
• Enhanced tool adoption and usage among community members, leading to more efficient interactions and positive feedback for new tools.
• Expanded reach, with growth in the number of active Lil Nouners and re-engagement of inactive members, measured by an increase in verified Lil Nouners and retention of members.
• Ongoing development and maturation of open-source tools, fostering innovation and collaboration, evidenced by the release and adoption of new open-source projects and community collaboration.

Sky-High Potential and Supporting Innovation

The potential for growing the Lil Nouns user base on Farcaster is enormous. Farcaster continuously introduces new initiatives and tools (Frames, Actions, Composable Actions, Programmable DCs, Frame Transactions, etc.), and I plan to leverage these to drive engagement with Lil Nouns. This initiative is not just about our growth but also about supporting other Lil Nouns initiatives by expanding their reach and building new tools to assist them. Through the development period, we will provide technical support to enhance the effectiveness and engagement of various Lil Nouns projects, creating synergies that benefit the entire community.
