Our current proposal approval process spans 7 days: 2 days of waiting, 3 days of voting, and 2 days in the final queue.

To be honest, we don’t have many active voters, and people are busy with their work during the week. Extending the voting period gives us more time to foster genuine interaction in the voting process, rather than relying on whale votes. Recent proposals show that we don’t need whale votes to pass proposals. Without whale votes, the process will be healthier and more democratic. Imagine that, democracy actually working the way it’s supposed to. 🗳️

A healthier voting process means more thoughtful decisions and less influence from a few large players, especially those who got tons of free votes and can single-handedly reach quorum for their own benefit. Because nothing says “fair process” like one person calling all the shots, right? By giving everyone more time to vote, we encourage more participation and genuine discussion. It’s about making sure every voice is heard, not just the loudest ones. 🗣️

Now, for the techy bit (because we need some numbers to back this up). With Ethereum’s block time now at 12 seconds, our waiting period of 13,140 blocks equates to about 44 hours. Our voting period of 19,710 blocks translates to roughly 66 hours.

So, to better align with Ethereum’s speedy new pace, I propose we adjust our process. Let’s shorten the waiting period to one day (7,200 blocks) and extend the voting period to four days (28,800 blocks). This way, the overall process still takes 7 days, but we actually get an extra day for voting. More time to think, less time to twiddle our thumbs. ⏳

This adjustment streamlines our proposal process, keeps it efficient, and in sync with Ethereum’s current block times, while providing more time for informed and inclusive voting. Because hey, we all know we could use a bit more thinking and a bit less rushing in our decision-making. 🗳🤔🗳️
