Lil Nouns DAO

Hola hermanos y hermanas, سلام برادران و خواهران, 兄弟姉妹の皆さん、こんにちは, Hello brothers and sisters, I’ve made a short intro video for this prop that you can see here on TikTok.

This is a continuation from Prop 139 to cover the next 3 months of Design R&D for Lils. I honestly almost posted at the same cost of 0.5e per month for ~1 day a week but as the treasury has done at least a 2x, I feel compelled to ask for 1e a month to increase my “official time” by 2x, continue to offer my help to community members, and work on the handbook more often. I hope/think that this ask is still well within the comfort zone of the DAO at this present time.

Some things I have done in the past 90 days (roughly ordered by most recent):

• Attended and gathered insights on every community meeting without fail (+60hrs)
• Given honest feedback to everyone
• Created a TikTok to onboard creatives, have begun posting content
• Minted a lot of Lil Nouns (my entire 2e budget thus far has been spent on Lils)
• Minted a lot of BitNouns
• Completed Week 9/26 of weekly Lil Noun Heads, still some way to go
• Art Basel Banner, T-shirts, Sticker Graphics, etc.
• Lil Nouncil Artwork and NFT; which you can bid on here
• Uploaded a lot of GIFs to Giphy here
• Animated Emojis and Soundboard for Discord (sorry)
• Secret Sauce ideas
• Whoneedsajob artwork for community member Salman
• Launched a multi-trait explorer probe.wtf - funded 0.5e via PH
• Sponsored Prop to Nouns for Lil Nounders
• Passed Prop for Withdraw Nouns (to ensure they couldn’t get “stuck” in escrow)
• Passed Prop for IRL Proliferation in Miami (for Mikegood.eth)
• Passed Prop for Lil Beans (for Kimmydeuk.eth)
• Ran a Meme Protest in the Discord
• Weekly Lil Content (~12 pieces planned, 60+ created - some highlights below)
• 300+ pages in the Ref Doc
• Created a Calendar to mark the rebirth of Lil Prop House (got 0 votes in PH)
• Made a signal for discussion wrt forking our Nouns back on 4th August, see here
• Have been putting together the design handbook in the background (+72hrs)
• Started the Figma Library of community brand assets
• Started helping with a project for a musician I am onboarding to Lils

Here are some things I plan on doing in the next 3 months (in no particular order):

• Spend a bit less time on calls (maybe just attend Thursday Happy Hour)
• Finalize v1 of the community Figma Library
• Launch some cool stuff via Lils.wtf website
• Help grow Lil Beans TikTok and Lils TikTok, potentially trial Ads
• Continue writing the design handbook and adding to the reference document
• Create and share music-related content
• Enjoy myself

Summary of the first 3 months:

When I started getting more involved and researching the DAO earlier this year, I had my own thoughts and views about what Lils should do and was honestly leaning towards breaking away from the 1:1 Noun aesthetic; putting down the square glasses and re-evaluating so to speak. I have since taken a dive Noggles-first into the abyss and participated daily in the culture for the past 4 months; my thoughts have definitely been reshaped somewhat after meeting and getting to know the active community members.

It is too early to draw any major conclusions as the research project is still ongoing, but below I have picked out a few highlights. You can also always check the reference document I am collating if you want to read about some of my thoughts, see early design concepts or seek inspiration for your own endeavours / steal my stuff - the power of cc0.

Notes

• Lil’s design touchpoints remain essentially unchanged since the project was founded; only notable changes are the new heads (per Nouns 1:1).
• Community feedback on design decisions is sparse to none; there is, however, a strong desire from some community members to amend front-end UI / UX issues they don’t like.
• There definitely exist UX issues, and the site is not optimized for noob engagement.
• The lilnouns.wtf front end is basically run and controlled by the Lil Nounders, which is not a bad thing in my opinion, but means it feels impossible for community members to have real impact or change there. I believe there is a need for an alternative front-end that implements community suggestions (e.g., potentially breaking changes and screwing things up, giving things a go, etc. which is something best kept away from lilnouns.wtf).
• A possible midway conclusion here is that there exists an opportunity to create a new front end at lils.wtf to add certain functionality and community features.
• No regular content created until Lil Bean introduction. Bean is literally just starting now and really should be getting pushed by community accounts on TikTok, Instagram, etc. but doesn’t seem to be much engagement from within unfortunately.
• Social dynamics are negatively impacted by whale votes.
• There could likely be another veto scenario if a v3 fork implementation is proposed.
