A main goal of Lil Nouns is to acquire governance representation in Nouns DAO. Exercising these voting rights require a centralized party to act on behalf of the community through sentiment gathered off-chain on Snapshot.
Although this served as a great short term solution for handling cross-DAO governance, it has become evident that this is core ecosystem behavior that should be permissionless, decentralized, and freely available.
About:
Federation is a protocol that enables communities in the Nouns ecosystem to vote on each other’s proposals.
Deliverables:
- Deployment of Federation delegate contract with configurable quorum
- On-boarding the community to Federation
- Priority customer and technical support / handling feature requests from the community and further development of the roadmap
- Highlighting Lil Nouns as a supporter of Federation on the web app and code repo

On-boarding details:
To get started using Federation our communities’ voting rights in NounsDAO must be delegated to a new Federation contract, which will be deployed after this prop is approved. In addition, ENS addresses used in cross-DAO voting should be updated to point to this delegate.
Note:
Using Federation does not come with any risk of asset loss. The contract behaves as an on-chain delegated voter and cannot execute any arbitrary transactions. Federation can only cast votes against other DAO proposals.
