Proposal to merge xDAI<>Gnosis
This proposal is a snapshot vote on an alternative way to proceed with the xDAI<>Gnosis merger to omit establishment of a $Stake/$GNO swap ratio as there will hardly a consensus being established that keeps the community together.
This was also mentioned at the xDAI<>Gnosis AMA, but cause it hasn’t been clear if it’s a single person opinion or have the broader support of the xDAI-Stake community wasn’t further discussed. However, it was said that a clear proposal the community could agree on might be something to negotiate.
This Snapshot vote is done to evaluate the opinion of the broader xDAI community on this.
Specifics: Instead of exchanging tokens, the $Stake holders offer Gnosis DAO to achieve 50% of the xDAI Chain project without any upfront payment, while Gnosis DAO agrees to support the project as they described in their proposal (https://forum.gnosis.io/t/gip-16-gnosis-chain-xdai-gnosis-merge/1904/7).
The necessary $Stake will be newly minted and transferred to the Gnosis-DAO.
$Stake holders agree on renaming xDAI Chain to Gnosis Chain.
$Stake holders also agree on renaming of the $Stake token to anything that fits into the Gnosis Ecosystem on the sole discretion of the Gnosis DAO. This token will be used as the sole staking token in the upcoming Gnosis-Beacon-Chain.
Gnosis DAO agrees not to increase their share to more than 50% of all available $Stake (or whatever the name is after renaming) and keep the GnosisChain a distinct project within their broader ecosystem.
Benefits for the $Stake community: Retain 50% of the project while increasing the potentials for growth due to the support of Gnosis. Drawback for the $Stake community: Don’t get any $GNO payment for their $Stake.
Benefit for the Gnosis DAO: Save 285,368 GNO (US$ 130m as on the time of writing)
Drawback for the Gnosis-DAO: Receive only 50% of the xDAI Stake Project instead of 85% according to the initial proposal.
Benefit for all: if a vast majority of the Stake community can agree, a real merger can take place and let everyone participate equally in the growth of the project which will be much easier with a supportive crowd.
