OIP-50: Make Quadratic Voting Type The Default For Proposals Goal: Protect the integrity of OrangeDAO democracy by preferring the number of contributors in agreement rather than simply total vote counts. Using Quadratic Voting allows us to reduce the risk that large token holders can control the DAO’s actions.

Description: Quadratic voting is a mathematical way to improve voting outcomes to be more democratic when one person can hold more than one vote. It weighs the amount of people voting for an issue more than just the token amounts.

ELI5: Your voting power is roughly the square root of your token holdings. 1 token = 1 vote, 16 tokens = 4 votes, n tokens = √n votes.

Additionally, this is not just a crypto concept and has been explored in the academic world as well. Benefits It is critical for OrangeDAO to be community owned and operated. The reason OrangeDAO should adopt quadratic voting by default is so that we do not centralize power to any large $ORANGE holders. It is best to do this early before any potential issues so that we can protect the integrity of our voting process long term.
