OIP-6: New Staking System
Summary: Implement a new staking system as part of V1.1 which enables Hades and prevents reward manipulation through a stake-claim system.
Background: Rebase manipulation has been a common topic since we launched. There have been many cases of users, especially LPs, staking to gain a rebase and unstaking right after. This is unfair to stakers and is not aligned with (3, 3), and in my opinion should be prevented. We also have Hades already integrated into bonds. Privacy is extremely valuable, and it seems like a positive to integrate that solution everywhere that we can. The more prevalent and common Hades is, the more effective it becomes.
Abstract: This new staking contract would operate on a stake-claim model. The basic steps are as follows:
- Stake: OHM is sent to the staking contract, and you are told when it can be reclaimed (after the next rebase occurs). At this point, you can also provide a new address as the recipient.
- Claim: A rebase occurs, and now you can come back and take your sOHM. From here on everything is the same. 2.1) Forfeit: If the rebase hasnโt occurred yet but you want your OHM back, you can always forfeit the claim.
Motivation: Increase the utility of staking through Hades, and ensure fairness of reward distribution.
Drawbacks: The claim transaction adds a point of friction when staking in.
For: Implement this new system. Against: Keep the current system.
