GLITCH 2025 ARTS+TECH Residency
Glitch Arts/Tech Residency (2025)
27 October - 9 November 2025
Burgundy, France

The Glitch Art/Tech Residency is a two-week gathering held at Château du Feÿ in Burgundy, France. This year’s theme, Space(s), explores the intersections between the physical, digital, latent, and outer worlds, pushing beyond promptable boundaries into experimental artistic and technological frontiers. The event convenes a carefully selected community of artists, inventors, technologists, entrepreneurs, writers, and collectors who collaborate, experiment, and create across media—bridging digital and physical spaces while fostering lifelong friendships and future collaborations. Now in its fifth edition, Glitch has become a hub for innovation at the crossroads of art and technology, described by past participants as transformative, playful, and intellectually generative. Previous residencies have focused on themes such as blockchain as a medium, the metaverse, alternative intelligences, and “Life is a Glitch,” leading to notable projects like NFT protocols, interactive art installations, and cross-disciplinary startups. Set in the serene countryside with communal living, creative workshops, and shared spaces, Glitch offers not just an incubator for cutting-edge ideas but a collaborative family dedicated to shaping the future of digital art and technological expression. Glitch operates as a crucible for experimentation at the intersection of art, technology, and governance. Its community is highly interdisciplinary, encompassing artists, technologists, inventors, and entrepreneurs who are accustomed to prototyping new ideas across both digital and physical domains. Over its past editions, Glitch has consistently incubated projects that push conceptual and technical boundaries (e.g., NFT protocols, interactive installations, experimental governance models) that mirror the kinds of decentralized architectures Nounish DecentraLab seeks to explore. The residency’s collaborative, immersive format fosters deep trust and long-term partnerships, creating the conditions for radical ideas to be stress-tested in practice before being scaled to policy or institutional contexts.

GLITCH Residency
GLITCH gathers a collection of artists, engineers, musicians, researchers, performers, entrepreneurs, etc. to work together towards the production of collaborative endeavors. We strive to empower people with ideas, visions, and expertise, while providing space for our attendees to reach deep into their minds and forge better models together. We exist to disrupt the status quo and to manifest positive solutions for society. The goal is to bring the right people, in the right place, at the right time, and then let the magic happen. More details about the fifth edition of GLITCH can be found here Below is a snapshot of the participants for the upcoming edition:

Glitch is a creative environment where people coalesce to create new artworks and develop new projects or initiatives that align with the value of openness, collaboration and public goods (see below for examples of projects that emerged out of the previous GLITCH residencies). Everything produced during GLITCH is done in a collaborative manner, and every software or protocol developed is released under an open source license.
Previous GLITCH Outcomes
GLITCH is highly in line with the Nounish value of public goods, openness and collaboration. Below is a list of projects that emerged from the previous editions of GLITCH:
- REMIX NFT to promote a culture of remix within the NFT space: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EJ4ywCeEU6ZG0VODaDgK0SzWxjWgyYR8LwctfRpti4I/edit - IMPACT NFT: https://pdefilippi.com/impact/, using NFT to promote climate positive solutions, in collaboration with Tomas Saraceno
- Eco-coin: a 2 weeks gathering in Wilbur, California, to design standards and protocols to reward ecologically-friendly activities through voluntary markets for impact certificates
- Token-bound License, to embed legal licenses directly into the tokens: https://james.grimmelmann.net/files/articles/token-bound-nft-license.pdf - Feral File exhibition (ecotone): https://objkt.com/collection/feralfile-20-ecotone, promoting collaboration between artists and blockchain engineers.
- GLITCH 2.5 in Portugal to support the creation of an art festival for NFT artists and builders / makers.
- Bio-glitch: https://glitch.bio/ - a collective interested in exploring the use of blockchain and web3 for supporting the environment.
- GLITCH Protocol: We have developed the Glitch protocol to facilitate artist collaboration by allowing artworks to interact with one another in an asynchronous way through smart contract communication. When a new work is created using the Glitch protocol, or when someone interacts with a work relying on the protocol, data about the work is recorded on the blockchain, so that other artworks relying on the Glitch protocol can react to it. The code of the glitch protocol is available on github, as well as a demo renderer which pulls data from all the tokens connected to glitch protocol.

- Off-Grid AI Manifesto: We drafted the Off-grid AI manifesto that challenges the traditional boundaries of AI Art. Indeed, today, it is difficult as an artist to use AI in order to create something really “novel” because of the limitations imposed on the promptable latent space, which constrain generative AI model to hyper-aesthetics or hyper-realistic outputs. The manifesto invites off-grid AI artists to escape from the imposed constraints of these models, and reach out outside of what the model is trained to deliver.
- Mancy Manifesto: We drafted the Mancy manifesto, introducing a new artistic movement, focusing on the creation of synthetic life through artificial intelligence and blockchain technology. It’s not about bio-Art, where artists use life to create art, it’s about using technology to breathe life into something that would be inanimate otherwise.
- GLITCH on Mars sub-residency: Led by Gene Kogan and Xander Steenbrugge, this project extends glitch art exploration to Bombay Beach, in California, bringing lots of glitchers to explore Artificial Intelligence in a Martian environment.
- GLITCH @ Fey Arts Festival: We’re already preparing for an upcoming arts festival, Fey Arts, that will exhibit many of the works made by GLITCH. A group of 10 Glitchers will be there showcasing their works at the intersection of art and technology, in a fully natural setting.
