TLDR: Launch a Noun-ish writing contest challenging authors to create essays about Nouns-related concepts like CC0, decentralized governance, and bottom-up brand building. This initiative aims to reach and educate new audiences about Noun-ish ideas while leveraging Kiwi’s crypto-native community.

Through this proposal we will:

Contest Details:

📝 Essay Prompts We’ll select 1-3 subjects and create engaging prompts for authors, similar to our previous successful contests (example: https://paragraph.xyz/@kiwi-updates/t2-lens-writing-challenge).

🔗 Submission Platform Authors will submit their essay links to Kiwi (our crypto-focused Hacker News). This platform allows for community engagement through submissions, upvotes, and comments.

🏅Winner Selection Winners will be determined by the number of upvotes received.

📢 Promotion We’ll promote the contest through various channels:

• Kiwi’s network of writers
• Kiwi and Nouns social media accounts
• Newsletters
• Other relevant crypto communities

Q: How will you ensure fair voting? A: We’re considering implementing a weighted voting system for trusted community members to mitigate potential gaming.

Q: Can anyone participate in the contest? A: Yes, the contest is open to all writers interested in Nouns-related concepts. They just need to mint a Kiwi Pass, which costs a few $. We could also gift Kiwi Passes to all Nouns.

Q: How long will the contest run? A: So far we tested 2 weeks- and 3 weeks-long deadlines. We learned that 3 weeks work better because authors can prepare very thoughtful essays. The exact duration will be determined and announced before the contest launch.

Q: How much impact can we count on? A: There are two ways to think about the impact.

1. Shaping the narrative.

Thanks to the Writers’ Contests, we can shape the narrative around subjects like CC0, decentralized governance, bottom-up brand building, and other Nouns-related ideas.

The contest motivates authors to think about these ideas and explore them from different angles. This results in multiple meaningful essays that can help people understand the Noun-ish concepts. Since the contest would be an event that’s promoted by Kiwi, Nouns and the authors, we would also redirect the attention of the crypto community to these subjects.

2. Reach.

Kiwi has around 1,300 monthly readers, but we also reach our authors’ subscribers and followers. So we count the reach in 1000s of crypto natives. Also, there are other organic mentions that might happen - e.g., last time, our contest was mentioned in the Bankless newsletter, reaching 100k+ people.
