Requesting 40 ETH + Noun 832 for Paperclip Labs’ contributions to Nouns, covering retroactive funding for past work and the proactive completion of NounSwap.

Retroactive Work

Since late 2023, Paperclip Labs has been contributing to Nouns with minimal compensation. During this period, we’ve built several projects:

NounSwap

NounSwap is a fully open-source project that began as a tool focused on treasury swap proposals and has since expanded to include many additional features.

Features

• Auction Client: Fully featured auction client with nouns.wtf parity.
• Noun Explorer: Explore all Nouns with searchable trait filters.
• Noun Profiles: Large view of each Noun highlighting its art, traits, owner, and actionable items.

  • Instant Swap: Swap a Noun for any other Noun in the $nouns contract.
  • Deposit: Deposit a Noun for 1M $nouns.
  • Redeem: Redeem 1M $nouns for any Noun in the $nouns contract.
• Treasury Swap Prop: Facilitates swap proposal creation with a tip and the proposer’s reason.
• Nouns Stats: Powered by a custom-built indexer
  • Treasury: Data around treasury management and runway.
  • Leaderboard: Noun and $nouns ownership leaderboard.
  • Activity: $nouns activity showing all swaps, deposits, and redemptions.
• Auction Frame: Farcaster auction frame with inframe bidding.
• Farcaster Bot:
  • Auction end: Posts the auction frame 15 minutes before the auction ends.
  • $nouns activity: Posts $nouns activity (deposit, redeem, swap).
• Testnet Deployment: Available on Sepolia testnet.
• Resiliency: NounSwap uses redundant fallbacks to be resilient to RPC and subgraph provider outages.

Usage

Since launching NounSwap, we have recorded approximately:

• 180 transactions on Ethereum mainnet (bid, swap, approve, deposit, redeem, swap prop).
• 23 bids placed, with 1 auction won.
• $nouns:
  • 48 swaps
  • 9 redeems
  • 22 deposits
• 7 successful treasury swap proposals.

In the past 30 days, NounSwap has seen approximately:

• 750 unique visitors.
• 45 daily visitors.
• 140 daily page views.

Additional Contributions

We have worked on several other projects in the Nouns ecosystem outside of NounSwap:

• NounPoll: Noun delegate polling in a Farcaster Frame that anyone can create.
• Nouns Subgraph Deployment: Transition Nouns subgraphs from The Graph’s sunset hosted network to The Graph’s decentralized network.

Completion of NounSwap

We aim to make NounSwap the best place to acquire a Noun (swapping ETH for a Noun is still a swap), while also serving as a robust alternative to nouns.wtf should it become sunset.

NounSwap already supports acquisition via auction, redeeming $nouns, treasury swaps, and instant swaps. To further enhance our offerings, we will be adding secondary market purchases.

Additionally, we will implement general UX improvements, including celebrating Noun acquisition to ensure this moment feels as magical as it truly is.

Funding Request

• 33 ETH + Noun 832: Retroactive funding to Paperclip Labs for the work completed thus far within the Nouns ecosystem.
• 5 ETH: Proactive funding to Paperclip Labs for the completion of NounSwap.
• 2 ETH: Marketing funding to Toady Hawk to help drive NounSwap usage.

Total: 40 ETH + Nouns 832 (38 ETH and Noun 832 to Paperclip Labs, 2 ETH to Toady Hawk)
