Vision

We want to bring Nouns to the streets, starting with Paris, the birthplace of pixel street art.

Our goal is to create a highly visible first wave that will extend the cultural relevance of Nouns from its online presence to real-world urban areas, and make the mischievous characters accessible to a broader audience.

Ultimately, we see Nouns Invaders becoming a global phenomenon, sparking curiosity and excitement as people spot them in many cities and countries around the world.

Locations

We will strategically place the mosaics in key visible spots in Paris. Criteria includes:

• High traffic areas
• Popular hangout spots for young and creative people
• Locations unlikely to be considered degradation by the majority of Parisians
• Urban acupuncture aka good Feng Shui

No historic monument, government monuments, brand new constructions etc.

Execution: From Pixels to Mosaics

Our mosaics will be crafted by a team of experienced, street-savvy artists with local knowledge.

Each piece is meticulously composed of 1024 individual mosaics and will be pre-assembled with care to make it easy and quick to place on the streets.

We plan to use two mosaic square sizes: 1 cm and 2 cm, resulting in Nouns that are either 32 x 32 cm or 64 x 64 cm. The size will be chosen based on the urban context and placement.

The process includes:

• Sourcing materials: mosaics, glue, tools, etc • Scouting for suitable locations • Assembly and fabrication • Placement of the mosaics during quiet time • Documentation of the process with professional photographs • Producing and Placing 50 stickers in the vicinity of each mosaic

Legality and Risks

Mosaic street art is a niche form of expression that authorities generally view as less harmful compared to graffiti. While there is a non-zero risk of being caught and fined, authorities can be flexible and tolerant.

Note that in the unlikely event of legal complications, our team would take full responsibility.

App

We will build an IOS and Android app similar to “Flash Invaders” that lets you map all mosaics. The app will use twitter login, GPS location and image recognition and allow for more images + locations to be added later on to the database.

We will also build an online presence via nounsinvaders.wtf, nounsinvaders.com and https://x.com/nounsinvaders .

Stickers campaign

Within a 200m radius of each mosaic, we will place 50 5x10cm stickers featuring QR codes that direct people to the Nouns Invaders website. The density of these stickers will increase as you approach the mosaic, creating a sense of progress and excitement as you get closer to finding the Noun!

In total, we will place 1,000 stickers. This approach will complement the app and help us create an exciting Nouns hunt experience.

What’s next?

We will wrap this up by the end of 2024 with the mosaics all finished in september-october and the app launched in november-december.

We plan to bring the project to cities with vibrant street art and strong Nouns communities.

Compensation

• 30 ETH for the creation and placement of 20 mosaics (1.5 ETH per Mosaic), which includes:
  • Testing: sourcing materials, color matching, placement process, and durability assessments.
  • Placement: A team of two people will manage placement during quiet times.
  • Risk management related to the placement process.
• 1 ETH for professional photography of all 20 mosaics (60-80 pictures).
• 1 ETH for the production and placement of 1000 stickers.
• 4.5 ETH for the development of an iOS/Android app and website.

Total Compensation: 36.5 ETH
