Nouns DAO

This proposal is an invitation for Nouns be part of scaling /tabletop, already the largest crypto-native board game community in the world! We are asking Nouns to empower us to take things to the next level by funding our journey!

• Devs seeking to develop tooling to help board gamers find each other and play more games together

TLDR; Hey Nouners! We are /tabletop. We’ve been growing since last summer and are now the 16th largest channel on Farcaster and the world’s largest web3 community of board gamers!

• For Nouns, the /tabletop channel functions as a marketing pipeline for board games by brennen.eth, Nounish. We are hosting IRL gameplay sessions at Nouns Town LA, and the channel is a space for Nounish game content to connect with the web3 board game audience
• brennen.eth is not doing a separate prop specific for the Nounish game, he prefers marketing the game via the /tabletop community so supporting /tabletop supports the Nounish game marketing funnel.
• We are building data middleware to connect internet-native gamers with where games are played, including p2p attestations, onchain game records and player skill rankings

Our Story

Hello Nouns! ⌐◨-◨

Originally started as a side project, /tabletop formed from my simple desire to talk about board games with all the cool folks I found on Farcaster! After months of community growth we know /tabletop could be much bigger than a single channel on Farcaster.

We played originally as side-events attached to ETHDenver and FarCon.

We continue to play and talk about board games digitally and in person for OᑎGᗩᗰE ᔕᑌᗰᗰEᖇ!

As gamers desiring to build the open-data hub for board games online, community member and game designer brennen.eth connected us to Nouns eSports.

Nounish Influence

With the support of Nouns eSports, we hosted a Dominion tournament early last month including teaching a few attendees!

We are not Nounish in name, but Nounish by nature. We create positive externalities, we embrace difference, and, above all, we have fun!

What We’ve Done So Far

Game tournaments: Hosted game tournaments sponsored by Nouns eSports through /tabletop and looking to continue creating a competitive scene for board gamers.

Game meetups:

1. Organized and hosting OᑎGᗩᗰE ᔕᑌᗰᗰEᖇ, a series of gaming meetups across the US. Our goal is to get 1000 humans to have played board games because of /tabletop! Live stat tracking available on our website https://tabletop.xyz/community-stats

Game development: I worked with @brennen.eth to refine the rules for the upcoming game Nounish: Discovering the Noggles (live demo on Tabletopia) through live playtesting with folks from the /tabletop channel on Farcaster.

We will be playing early copies of brennen.eth’s game Nounish as an official side-event of NounsFest!

We are stoked to improve on our past events and make ETHDEnver and FarCon big and Nounish in 2025!

The Nounish Union?

Inspired by Nouns eSports, and with their support, s/o sasqwatch, we’re writing a Nounish prop ourselves. We’ve been autonomous and submitting a prop to the DAO is a natural evolution to bring Nounish influence into Farcaster and to all the newcomers we’re onboarding to play board games!

With funding we can provide a sustainable salary for admin while continuing prioritize community growth and software development. This would empower us to keep our noggle-covered eyes focused on the professional Nounish lifestyle we dream of.

By onboarding non-crypto folks to Farcaster, we will be at the intersection of real humans and crypto social, bringing Nounish culture to the next generation of people in crypto. With votes from Nouns, we’ll be able to push services out for the gamers in /tabletop, while strengthening the bonds between /tabletop, Nouns, and Farcaster as a whole.

We would like to challenge the dominance of sites like BoardGameGeek for board game hub on the internet!

The roadmap is: 2024 - bootstrap userbase from farcaster + irl 2025 - build Farcaster client tooling for /tabletop 2026 - Grow, expand, and scale

I’ve been a past contributor to BanklessDAO, /purple on Farcaster, and recently given Nouns voting delegation from @brennen.eth.

I requested /tabletop as a place for board gamers to talk and find each other on Farcaster last summer, and have hosted numerous events to that end.

Revenue

We are growing a premium service from the Farcaster /tabletop channel. Users who subscribe receive status, voting rights, and stats tracking.

We plan to continue to grow the number of digital hypersub subscriptions supporting Tabletop by hosting fun events and creating a community that folks want to be part of. Events are simultaneously marketing, user acquisition, and distribution for Nouns culture.

The Nounish board game by brennen.eth will get visibility in /tabletop from irl play sessions and online as part of /tabletop’s 2x/mo game nights.
