Proposal Summary

WHAT:

We’re presenting this prop to facilitate IRL and digital activations for Nouns at EDCON 2024 (Ethereum Developers Conference) in partnership with UETH produced by Nouns Cares and Problem.

This event will allow us to reach and onboard new audiences, drive the industry forward by collaborating with onchain builders and thought leaders, and highlight our impact and contributions.

The proposed programs and goals are as follows:

  3. Plan and produce Nouns’ inclusion in a mainstage event, with Frankie Colamarino hosting a keynote centered around Nouns and how the DAO is pioneering engagement and firmly positioning their community members at the forefront of onchain innovation.
  4. **Include key Nouns community member **Chris Carella as the host of his own Nounish EDCON panel as well as a series of UETH hosted meetings to represent the DAO, share our perspectives and contribute meaningfully in discussions with Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, at the United Nations University.
  5. Produce and deploy a series of EDCON Billboards designed by Nounish artists in Shibuya at the world famous Shibuya Scramble across from Shibuya Station, leading up to and/or during EDCON **(daily foot traffic of **~2.4MM people per day!)
  6. Hold a Tokyo screening of Shark, Pickle, Cone the first-ever feature-length documentary minted to the blockchain that chronicles the thrilling journey of working with Nouns DAO and a fascinating exploration of the power of creativity and community collaboration.
  7. Co-host the offsite EDCON Afterparty that captures the celebratory vibe surrounding the 10-year anniversary of Ethereum and onchain summer in Tokyo, with a super cool Nouns floatie and surprise DJ Set / performance.

Event Overview - EDCON 2024 Tokyo

EDCON (Ethereum Developers Conference) is the essential Ethereum community event, emphasizing development, interoperability and collective progress within the Web3 and blockchain sectors.

EDCON 2024 TOKYO highlights the symbiotic relationship between global Ethereum innovations and Japan’s tech advancements.

As the only international organizer, EDCON chose Japan as the 2024 venue to underscore the nation’s vital contributions to blockchain and Tokyo as its de-facto capital of global commerce and innovation.

Partnering with the De University of Ethereum (UETH) and the Shibuya Municipal Government, EDCON blends the international Ethereum narrative with Japan’s tech landscape to enrich both domains.

The Shibuya Creative Tech Committee and EDCON have formed a strategic partnership to create a subcommittee that will enhance EDCON 2024, which will be directly supported by the Shibuya City Office. This collaboration will unlock new opportunities in the global art and tech community by combining expertise and fostering creativity through innovative programming.

Set to unfold from July 24th-30th, EDCON 2024 will kick off at the prestigious United Nations University before moving to the iconic Yoyogi National Gymnasium — marking the venue’s first-ever time hosting a technology conference.

The best part? Tickets are entirely free, providing open access to contribute to and expand the dynamic Web3 community in Japan and beyond.

The Cares Club at EDCON 2024

The Cares Club is a physical hub and experience powered by Nouns Cares and EDCON, hosted at the The United Nations University.

We are currently engaging with Ethereum thought leaders and EDCON hosts, including Justin Moskowitz and Cy Li, to ensure our strategies resonate globally and align with EDCON and the broader Ethereum community goals.

From July 25th - 29th, attendees will participate in engaging workshops with opportunities to directly support artists and explore the future of digital commerce and retail, in an effort to narrow the great divide between Web2 and Web3, as well as business, creative, and tech.

Each workshop host will have the opportunity to fully personalize and shape their own session, so long as it aligns with our overall themes of relatability, relevance, engagement and interactivity.

We will be proliferating Nouns at large, along with highlighting art and content from the following partners:

  • Yellow Collective, NOUNSWORKS, Purple DAO, BuilderDAO and others to contribute their expertise to enrich our presence.
  • Nouns Esports and Pizza DAO are bringing community-specific content and insights that highlight the global and diverse impact of the Nouns community.
  • Base, IYK and Token Proof are adding technological support, enhancing the quality and authenticity of the digital assets involved and demonstrating practicality and relevance when it comes to “phygital” products and projects.

Furthermore, The Shibuya Creative Tech Committee’s involvement in EDCON underscores important local support for blockchain initiatives and helps bring credibility to attract local buidlrs and Ethereum projects to The Cares Club.

Bordering the workshops, The Cares Club Gallery will display a curated selection of artworks (provided by the partners listed above) and merchandise that artistically align with EDCON’s core themes and highlight the on-chain potential for creators and storytellers.

This exhibition is meant to inspire dialogue between creators and Web3 enthusiasts, creating opportunities for future collaborations. Additionally, attendees will have the option to purchase pieces of art directly from their virtual displays.

Nouns on the Main Stage

frankie_speaker

Frankie Colamarino, representing Nouns Cares, will take the main stage to spotlight the strategic significance of community-led initiatives within the blockchain space, particuarly as they pertain to DAOs. This keynote will dive into how Nouns is pioneering engagement and innovation, firmly positioning their community members at the forefront of onchain innovation and include content and contributions from other key DAO members.

We’ll also produce a special panel at EDCON hosted by key Nouns DAO contributor and member Chris Carella. The content and themes of this panel will be tailored directly to Chris’ personal interest and history with DAOs, as well as his contributions and active involvement in Nouns.

The discussion will also aim to engage and inspire new community members by sharing our aspirations for growth and innovation within the Nouns ecosystem. This will be a unique opportunity for attendees to gain insight into the core values and vision that drive Nouns directly from longtime Nouns members.

Nouns EDCON Afterparty

Nouns will co-host the offsite EDCON Afterparty that captures the celebratory vibe surrounding the 10 year anniversary of Ethereum and onchain summer in Tokyo, with a super cool Nouns floatie and music by local talent and a surprise headlining DJ.

In partnership with @Tokyo / @Tokyo.us, we’ll select a fun and unique local venue in proximity to the main conference venue in Shibuya and invite attendees to connect with the Nouns members and the broader Ethereum community.

In addition to aforementioned partners supporting The Cares Club, we’ll extend invites to and integrate local Nounish groups, such as Nouns DAO Japan and pNouns, along with Warpcast’s very own Tokyo DAO and Suntory Spirits’ SakazukiNFT Project.

We’re also keen on producing and displaying a Noggles floatie in the venue, symbolizing the playful and innovative spirit of the Nouns community to serve as a fantastic photo opportunity and central content piece from the event.
