Thesis

Send $40,000 USD worth of ETH to dao-lawfirm.eth in exchange for:

• A terms of use for juicebox.money and similar frontends.

• A privacy policy for juicebox.money and similar frontends.

• Opinion letters for contributors with recurring payouts from Juicebox DAO, Peel DAO, WAGMI Studios, Canu DAO, or Lexicon Devils.

Motivation

Addressing high priority legal concerns allows builders to keep building, but with legal clarity and peace of mind.

• A terms of use and a privacy policy will obviously improve legal compliance, but will also serve as a valuable resource for new frontends to the Juicebox protocol and similar web3 projects. Project creators, communities, and anybody who interacts with the Juicebox protocol will likely benefit from this.

• These opinion letters will provide legal guidance on how U.S. regulations apply to the DAO’s goals, on an individual level. These letters will explain what contributors should feel comfortable doing, and what should be avoided going forwards. They are also extremely valuable as official documentation that Juicebox contributors have sought out legal advice and done their proper diligence.

The immediate benefit to Juicebox DAO is obvious, but the Juicebox ecosystem may benefit even more. Juicebox DAO serves as a model throughout the Juicebox community, and as Juicebox DAO attains greater clarity, the ecosystem benefits in turn.

Risks

• These deliverables cover some early priorities–they may not address all laws in all jurisdictions.

• Opinion letters can only provide guidance. The final decision will always fall to individuals.

• $40,000 is a serious commitment. What Juicebox is receiving in exchange is well worth the cost. Nevertheless, there is always risk of a failure to execute.

• Contributors will have to reveal their identities and addresses to the law firm in order to receive opinion letters. Although nobody is being forced, this leaves some contributors with a difficult decision to make.

Specification

• Multisig adds dao-lawfirm.eth to distribution at $20,000 worth of ETH for one funding cycle.

• dao-lawfirm will construct a terms of use and a privacy policy.

• Contributors interested in receiving an opinion letter should send an email to info@dao-lawfirm.xyz providing their legal name, address, and an overview of the work they do for Juicebox DAO.

• dao-lawfirm will construct opinion letters for contributors.

• Terms of use and privacy policy will be added to juicebox.money once ready.

• Upon delivery of items listed above, multisig adds dao-lawfirm.eth to distribution at $20,000 worth of ETH for one more funding cycle.

Timeline

This process will likely take somewhere from 2 weeks to 2 months.
