Synopsis

One-time payout to Wraeth ($6,000) and TJL ($9000) for contributions to the Free Alexey & Roman campaign on Juicebox.

Context

Free Alexey & Roman is a Juicebox project raising funds for the legal defense of developers Alexey Perstev and Roman Storm who were arrested following the OFAC sanctions of Tornado Cash. Organized in collaboration with WeWantJusticeDAO and instigated by Matthew & Brileigh, Free Alexey & Roman has so far raised 230+ ETH ($525k) with over 500 individual payments.

Motivation

Over the last four weeks, Wraeth and TJL have contributed to the campaign without ongoing payouts from Peel or JuiceboxDAO following the unsuccessful temp check of JBP-460 (Renew and reduce Peel). During this time, they have contributed to the campaign’s success as follows:

Campaign leadership and management (TJL)

• Campaign strategy (doc)
• Campaign recommendations (doc)
• Marketing strategy (doc)
• Project page and NFT asset design (Figma)
• Outreach (40+ messages sent so far) and partnerships (e.g. Blockchain Boy, more TBA)
• Communication between team and client

Priority bug fixes and technical (Wraeth)

• Working fiat checkout integration using Privy (PR) + further exploration for wider rollout (to be completed)
• Verified badge on project page (PR)
• Caching project NFTs for better page load performance (PR)
• Project page countdown timer (PR) + rollout for JBM (to be completed)
• Fix future launch date functionality in create flow (PR)

Rationale

• Wraeth and TJL do not have ongoing payouts from Peel or JBDAO
• Wraeth and TJL have been integral to the campaign’s success thus far and deserve fair compensation for their time and effort

Notes

• If this proposal passes, TJL and Wraeth agree to not seek remuneration from WeWantJusticeDAO for any work completed up until now (week of January 22)
• If this proposal does not pass, TJL and Wraeth may choose to seek remuneration from WeWantJusticeDAO for work completed up until now (week of January 22)
• Regardless of this proposal passing, TJL and Wraeth may choose to seek remuneration from WeWantJusticeDAO for work going forward (week of January 29 onwards)
• In all cases, any amounts paid to TJL and/or Wraeth by WeWantJusticeDAO will be publicly disclosed in the project’s budget spreadsheet and will not be associated with Juicebox, JuiceboxDAO, or Juicebox Protocol.
