Gnars

A “gnarketplace” for attention, thatsgnar.ly empowers the community to curate and drop the best Gnars content and rewards athletes with Gnars NFTs and ETH.

Details

Gnars holders can vote on their favorite Gnars content submitted via thatsgnar.ly. Gnars holders get 1 vote per token, and Gnars OG counts for 2 (same as the Snapshot space).

The best content is “dropped” by the DAO via an open edition or a 1/1 auction. Athletes whose content is successfully voted to drop receive 1 Gnars NFT.

Proceeds (ETH) from the drops are split between the athlete and the Gnars DAO treasury, 50/50.

We propose the following structure:

• An Open Edition for the top video of the day

  • 24h duration, 0.0069 ETH each
  • 1 Gnar to athlete

• A 1/1 Auction for top of the week

  • 24h duration
  • 1 Gnar to athlete

Additionally, we’re exploring closed editions as a means to drop the #2-5 pieces of content of the day to get more creators paid. We will share updates and make community decisions in Discord.

We will learn from the MVP and iterate to find the best drop setup that maximizes the following by order of importance:

1. ETH earned by athletes (ETH * # of athletes earning)
2. Revenue to Gnars DAO
3. Ownership (Gnars NFTs) distributed to athletes

Drops will pay out to a 0xsplits contract, with half going to Gnars DAO and half to a multisig controlled by rocketman, Gami, and Vlad to payout athletes their share until a more trustless option is convenient.

Gnars NFTs

We’re requesting 50 Gnars NFTs from the multisig, which will be sufficient for at least 2 months of drops. These NFTs will be issued exclusively to athletes whose content is auctioned off.

Launch

We are launching this Thursday (1/12/2023) at 8pm EST on the Gnars Jam Session.

We will mint the first 24h open edition at 8pm, so submissions and voting will open the day before on 1/11/2023 at 8pm EST. The platform will be shared heavily on Twitter and we could use the community’s help here! Follow the #thatsgnarly account here.

The more people submitting content, voting, and bidding, the more athletes we can onboard, the more ETH Gnars DAO earns, and the more powerful this movement becomes.
