Gearbox DAO

Summary The OBRA model has been effective in aligning contributors with clear deliverables and budgets. However, to further refine the agility of the model this proposal seeks DAO approval to delegate powers to initiative to replace departing contributors without additional GIPs, provided they are within the approved scope and budget allocation. The proposal also seeks approval to onboard a community manager (Marcos) who, apart from timely responses on discord and TG, will focus on deepening borrower and lender engagement, scaling user acquisition via niche communities, and operationalizing community-driven content.

Part1. OBRA Refinement The DAO has had exceptional talent retention but contributors seldom do transition out while their deliverables and the allocated budget remains the same. We propose that initiatives should be given the ability to replace these contributors without additional GIPs to ensure continuity and ease of operations. Initiatives will be empowered to:

1. Replace contributors within their initiative if a contributor departs or underperforms.
2. Make changes without requiring a new GIP, provided:

• The new contributor operates within the original OBRA scope.
• Total compensation does not exceed the approved budget for that initiative. Currently the SPOCs for these initiatives will be

Part 2. Community Manager onboarding The Community Manager will be responsible for:

1. Community Operations

• Manage and respond to community queries across Telegram and Discord.
• Provide clear, timely information to users regarding borrowing/lending, updates, and opportunities.

2. Mini-Communities: Building and Growth

• Curate a Borrower’s Paradise, providing them tailored leverage opportunities, yield updates, and usage nudges.
• Track and maintain a Lender Watchlist, using tools like Arkham and Nansen to identify major wallets and keep them engaged.

3. Ecosystem Expansion

• Join partner communities (e.g., Pendle, Morpho, Curve) to soft-shill Gearbox and onboard relevant users.
• Identify yield-farming based niche TG groups (e.g., Medium Rare, HFA) and develop plans to engage them effectively.

4. Content & Influencer Engagement

• Launch short-form mini-yield video content to be distributed via the Intern page.
• Restart the emerging influencer flywheel, previously Kamar Taj, partnering with microcreators to generate low-cost traction and UGC.

CM will be onboarded under the OBRA model with a budget of 3.5K USDC per month.
