So here’s the deal: we need to acquire a .dope TLD. It’s perfect for our brand and community.

Proposal Overview

I had a chat with a Punk Domains Punk about the process for Dope Wars in acquiring our very own Web3 top-level domains (TLD) on Optimism…. These domains can generate revenue for our operations.

This proposal is requesting Dope Wars DAO to fund an initiative in acquiring the Web3 domain .dope

This is the basic process

1. We decide what is the TLD Dope Wars would want to have?
2. With a one-time fixed fee of 5k DAI in ETH, Punk domains team would set up the contracts, minting website and set everything up including integrate our TLD into all existing tools like Send2.name etc.
3. Here’s where it gets interesting - DWs gets 80% of the mint fees and royalties from secondary sales, with the remaining 20% going to the Punk Domains DAO.
4. We would set the pricing, offer pre-mints etc. Mint can also be token gated with Dope Wars integration, so eg you’ll need a HUSTLER to mint a .dope domain [we could possibly pair this up with a campaign to spread the word that HUSTLERS ARE A FREE MINT! and another example we could set pre-mint period to only allow addresses that hold a min of 1 of each asset… GEAR, PAPER, DOPE and HUSTLER to mint during pre-mint

Of course, there are some minor hurdles we need to deal with - a) We’ll need someone with Admin access to manage our TLD b) Punk Domains Protocol is open source so integration of our HUSTLERS and/or GEAR would have to be done by a Dope dev contributor.

ROI

Cost $5000 + Dev contribution Excluding the developer contributions, the expected ROI based on ETH at $1850 would cost DW 2.7 ETH. Assuming a mint price of 0.01 ETH per .dope domain, DW DAO would receive 0.008 ETH for each domain minted. We would only need 338 registered domains. After that point, there would be a external revenue stream flowing into the treasury in the form of ETH from new domain mints and secondary sale royalties. for $20 example … DOPE DAO will receive $16 every mint, requiring 313 mints for $15 example … DOPE DAO will receive $12 every mint, requiring 417 mints

1. choosing a TLD? .dope 2. deciding on mint price? It is recommended by Punk DAO to set a high enough price to avoid spamming and squatting.

3. deciphering which token to use for mint? ETH-PAPER-USDC

Pros and Cons
-ETH would be the easiest UE and is a liquid asset which the DAO could easily use for expenses

-both ERC-20 tokens ‘PAPER’ and ‘USDC’ will require users to approve the token to mint for their first domain name.(Optimism tx are cheap so its not a major factor).

-PAPER would add another utility for our token but would also leave the DAO with more PAPER which we have a sufficient amount already

-USDC would be a great option in mitigating the need to stable our ETH in treasury but we all saw some stables break peg 👀 prob won't happen again🤷‍♂️ 

4. decide what Dope Integration we wanna use as the requirement for minting eg you need a HUSTLERS to mint…
5. possibly decide on pre mint…
6. @Bort has confirmed he is keen to do the in-house dev work. Once we iron out all the details above, he can give us an estimate on cost.
