Street Art Incentive Fund ($Paper Grant Initiative)

Taniela.Taki proposes that we designate allotments of $Paper to act as payment to fund TEN projects of DOPEWARS Street Art put up by recognised and respected Graffiti Artists worldwide.

The individual allotments would comprise of 20,000 $Paper, or a quantity that represents a maximum value of $750 USD or minimum value of $300 USD should the value of $Paper change.

I propose that we create a DW Street Art folder/thread called DOPE WALLS on the discord. A place that potential artists could be directed to where they could display art and apply for an abovementioned allotment in exchange for creating DW Street Art for use by the DOPEWARS DAO. Said application would have to include examples of previous work, or some proof of capability, alongside a brief by the artist of the intended work, method, location and other information as considered relevant by DOPEWARS DAO. The artists intent would be then moderated by appropriate DOPEWAR DAO members and the artist would be given the ‘Green Light’. The moderation process would need to include appropriate investigation to ensure that DOPEWARS DAO was not funding or promoting any un-permitted or undesirable activities.

Upon completion of the work the artist would be required to provide photography (ideally video as well if possible) of the Street Art which would be again moderated by DOPEWARS DAO. I suggest that the quality of work be reasonably measured against an existing piece of street art created for DOPEWARS DAO. I recommend the Barcelona piece as a suitable option. The proposed art would not need to be directly comparable to the Barcelona piece. The artist would need to be given artistic creative control. The produced work would be required to be, as reasonably judged by DOPEWARS DAO moderators, of equivalent quality. Once it is established to be at the required standard funds can released to the artist.

The artist would need to be informed that the produced digital promotion would be the property of DOPEWARS DAO to utilise as it deems suitable. The artist would be advised that the background information including, but not limited to, method, location, (other information as considered relevant) would be available for use by DOPEWARS DAO to create the promotion. The artist would be entitled to include some information in the promotion that relates to their own profile. (For example if they wanted to include a link to their Instagram profile). This would be a part of the negotiation when getting the ‘Green Light’ to go ahead with the Street Art. The DOPEWARS DAO would retain the right to refuse to publish any information it deems unsuitable.

The proposed fund should be targeted to create 10 geographically separate locations whereby the Street Art Promotions are created. Ideally these would be in different countries but exceptions may be made for larger countries if that is in the benefit of DOPEWARS DAO. The intent would be to create a global current or Street Art movement for DOPEWARS DAO to promote. The roll out of this incentive fund and production of street art promotions would not necessarily need to be done all in one hit. The project could proceed at a pace agreeable to the DOPEWARS DAO in a way that could match our present drive for organic and creative growth.

The main effort would be the creation of the TEN physical and electronic promotions for use by the DOPEWARS DAO but there would be secondary benefits to the proposal. By paying the artists in $Paper and engaging with them on the discord we would be likely to on-board people who are both interested and valuable to DOPEWARS DAO. People who would have a network of people who are likely to be interested in the DOPEWARS movement. If enough exposure and momentum is created, secondary proposals could be initiated including extra allotments if desired or the option of an open competition with prize money awarded to winners.

Design for battle

This proposal would be aimed more as an onboarding/collaboration type activity rather than a simple commissioning process. We attract/identify/recruit suitable talent then engage with them. Hopefully we can show them the promise DW has and they can become involved in the project. This is why the proposal favours payment in $Paper because it represents an investment, of sorts, by the artist into DW’s. The remuneration to the artist (20k $Paper) represents a lower value but one that has great potential for growth.

The engagement marries up with DW’s DAO current organic/involved growth model with the potential to onboard people who may have value and access to networks of like-minded people. It also ticks the traditional marketing avenues by creating the digital visual promotions for use by the DAO. (All at a very reasonable cost).
