Since the Snapshot proposal passed I have had two meetings with the Lawyer to discuss and negotiate terms of retainment. Please see link to Snapshot below:
The Terms of Retainment are as below:
The execution of this Tally vote would authorise the release of $20,000 USD worth of OP to be paid to Thomas Plunkett to retain him as DOPE DAO Legal Counsel. The OP will be converted to stable coin USDC and then paid into a wallet controlled by the Lawyer.
$5,000 would be paid to secure a non refundable 12 month retainment contract. Included in this 12 month retainment is a monthly 30 minute consultation no additional charge.
The rest would secure $15,000 worth of pre-paid legal fees. These pre paid legal fees can be spent on legal advice at any time, and until such time as any legal counsel is sought this would belong to the DAO. At any time this can be requested to be transferred back to the DAO. If it is not spent on legal advice over the space of the year then the creidt can be either returned to the DAO or remain as pre paid legal fees under a new agreement.
This represents an agreement that I negotiated to heavily favour the DAO - a leaning this far in favour of pre-paid legal advice is uncommon. Thomas likes the project and understands the fact we are just getting started really.
This proposal will also authorise the release of 1 DOPE token to be paid to Thomas from the marketing wallet. This would mean that he would become part of the community and part of the DAO. This adds another layer of protection for us. Having a specialist crypto lawyer as part of the DAO. The more he understands DOPE DAO the better we can work together to ensure we are staying above board as best we can in this uncertain landscape. Like I mentioned in the snapshot proposal, one of my next biggest issues will be ensuring that we (hopefully) can execute a future Turf drop in a SAFU way. As well as the many other issues that are going to pop up.

The last time we had legal issues, the DAO came to a grinding halt as Developers and Contributors became aware of possible issues of liability. This lead to all the work around registration and developing the legal platform. I see this issue as a no-brainer - plus if we dont spend the credit we can get it back!
