Delegated Player Reputation Multiplier to Incentivize Governance Participation and Reduce Abuse

Background

Currently, as soon as a player receives delegation, they are able to earn 100% of ICE earnings. As a result, they do not have any immediate sense of upward mobility and they are easily able to switch to a new wallet in the event their address is banned, and start earning 100% rewards immediately again.

Proposal

Establish a new delegated player reputation multiplier that starts at .5x for all new delegated addresses, increases by .05x for each day the delegated player checks in while hodling 100 xDG in their wallet, and ultimately reaches a max of 1x.

For all existing delegated players, allow them to start at 1x if they stake the 100 xDG by a certain date – this new logic would then only apply to new delegated player addresses. However, if existing delegated players don’t stake the 100 xDG by that certain date, then they will need to start at .5x like everyone else.

For example, if a player receives delegation on day 1 and then accumulates xDG by day 3, then their delegated player multiplier per day would be:

Day 1 - .5x Day 2 - .5x Day 3 - .55x Day 4 - .6x Day 5 - .65x Day 6 - .7x Day 7 - .75x Day 8 - .8x Day 9 - .85x Day 10 - .9x Day 11 - .95x Day 12 - 1x

By the 10th day of checking in while hodling 100 xDG in their wallet, they would achieve the full 1x ICE rewards.

It’s important to note that this only affects the delegated player’s earnings. The wearable owner’s earnings is unaffected by this new proposed logic.

Rationale

It’s essential to incentivize delegated players to maintain and build up a reputation on their respective accounts. A time-weighted xDG multiplier further disincentivizes cheating and abuse as delegated players’ earnings would be slashed in half if they are banned and need to create a new account.

Although we will deploy assigned seating to production very soon to cut down on most abuse vectors, it’s important to establish additional incentive models to further assist in these anti-abuse efforts and incentivize good behavior in the ecosystem.

Furthermore, it’s valuable long-term for the ecosystem to have delegated players participate in and collectively represent a sizeable vote in Decentral Games governance.
