Summary

This BIP aims to simplify the onboarding process for new users by providing all accounts with a baseline of 100 Voting Points (VP) per round, provided they log in during the round.

• Objective: To reduce friction in the onboarding experience, encourage a more decentralized voting user base, and activate participation from web2 native crowds.
• Strategic Benefits: Streamline user onboarding, unify user experience in one app, and promote mindful curation.

Specifications

There are three options proposed in this BIP:

1. Uncapped & Unsubsidized

All accounts receive 100VP per round without external subsidies. Simple implementation, but inflationary and potentially dilutive to VP value.

2. DAO Subsidized

100VP per round per account, subsidized by the DAO’s LP position. Scales up to 34,428 users, utilizing DAO resources.

3. No Change

Maintain the current system without VP subsidization. Requires a separate onboarding flow for new users without tokens or access passes.

The above three options are presented with a ranked choice voting, where governors order their preferred options. If no option receives at least 50% initially, the bottom choice is eliminated and those votes are shifted to the governors’ second choice. This continues until an option has >50%.
