MIP-27: Clarification of $BIT to $MNT migration policy and service
Background
The recent forum topic regarding the migratability of the $BIT tokens held by FTX Group has received a lot of discussions among Mantle community members. According to the previous proposal MIP-22, “potentially controversial decisions will be subject to discussion and consultation with the community through official channels”. This issue has a history of controversy, highlighted by several community members and external observers, and is sufficiently controversial to warrant a Mantle Governance decision on the topic. Therefore, the following proposal has been drafted for the community to vote on the issue.
Proposal
By Voting “Yes”, you endorse the following terms:

Pause the current on-chain migration smart contract.

Authorize the implementation a new migration smart contract or migration service that can restrict the automatic migratability of FTX Group’s $BIT tokens, pending the resolution of related issues. This includes the ability to approve migration requests on a discretionary basis.
