Autonolas

Summary

This proposal introduces a constitution for Autonolas DAO, defining its stakeholders as well as its mission, goals and fundamental principles (“Constitution”). “Although smart contracts are promising new tools for governance, they alone cannot govern communities; traditional constitutions and declarations of rights are still crucial for good governance.” Metagov

Proposal

Alternative Solutions

The Autonolas DAO could function without a constitution but it is argued here that, without a constitution, the Autonolas DAO would not have as much alignment on a general purpose and direction. This could result in a less clearly defined vision, potentially less cohesive work and a higher risk of the Autonolas DAO being radically redirected through a regular proposal. Whilst this Constitution can be amended and changed, it provides high-level context to promote alignment and therefore execution of a shared purpose.

Acceptance

At least double the usual quorum of a Snapshot proposal needs to be met for the vote to be valid.

The Autonolas DAO Constitution should be highlighted prominently across Autonolas DAO’s documentation, communications channels and onboarding processes to ensure that every current and future Autonolas DAO stakeholder is sufficiently aware.

Furthermore, and in line with the above, every governance proposal should contain a link to this DAO Constitution at the beginning of the proposal and it should state that it is compatible with this Constitution.
