Autonolas

Background

People are talking about Olas DAO (aka Autonolas DAO). Every day, many create and/or seek to create content, discussing the Olas DAO and its technology, vision, and contributors. Currently, there is limited guidance available for external parties on how to speak about Olas to correctly describe the DAO, its technology, vision, or contributions to the DAO. Though a Press Kit currently exists on the Olas site, it does not contain brand guidelines for talking about relationships to the DAO, for example providing wording and assets for those building on Olas to use. As a result, mentions of Olas may be inconsistent, misrepresent or omit relationships to Olas and the Olas DAO, or otherwise use its intellectual property in unauthorized ways and weaken the Olas brand.

Proposal

This proposal seeks to update the Press Kit, ensuring there is a single place where Olas DAO members can point content creators that summarizes the necessary usage terms, guidance, information, and assets.

New additions to this updated Kit include:

• Usage terms for Olas DAO and its contributors’ intellectual property and trademarks
• Guidelines and example language for talking about Olas, for builders and other relationships, including ‘do’s and ‘don’ts’
• Assets builders on Olas are encouraged to use, including a ‘Powered by Olas’ badge

Implications

This new ‘Brand and Press Kit’ may have many benefits, including potentially:

• Saving DAO contributors time finding information
• Saving other people talking about Olas time finding information
• Strengthening the Olas brand by setting a high standard for content about the DAO, i.e. that they must respect its intellectual property and correctly represent the Olas DAO and their relationships to it (not inflating or creating relationships of their own accord)
• Strengthening the Olas brand by setting consistent wording and assets for content about the DAO, that reflects and complements the latest branding on the - Olas site (i.e. when the site is updated, the proposed Kit repository can be updated, too).
• Saving the DAO liability and regulatory risk, reducing the chance that the DAO and/or contributors’ entities, work and relationships to each other are misrepresented, whether accidentally or otherwise

If adopted, this proposal will mean DAO members should do the following:

• Use the Brand and Press Kit themselves
• Link people wishing to talk about Olas to the ‘Brand and Press Kit’ repo
• From time to time, when the Olas site is updated, update the repo to reflect site and vice-versa

Conclusion

This Brand and Press Kit aims to strengthen the Olas brand to showcase the work of everyone involved in growing crypto’s ocean of services and further grow the project. It is one part of ongoing crucial work by varied contributors to strengthen the Olas brand and encourage further high-quality content about the Olas DAO.
