Abstract:

This is a proposal for financial compensation for a number of winners that participated in “ArbitrumDAO’s Biggest Minigrants Round Ever.” This was a grant round with 32 winners over a period of 8 weeks, starting in January 2024. 19 projects received their payouts 3-7 months later, which caused significant confusion, stress, and blockages in their ability to execute their projects. This proposal is for financial compensation for the 5 projects that would like to complete their grant project as proposed (but due to the significant payout days and resulting ARB value drop were not able to execute or partially execute), and for the effort in providing detailed feedback and learning for all parties in this grant round as provided by Kara Krysthal.

Key grant round issues:

• 5 parties were required for funds distribution, creating extreme payout delays

• Lack of organized KYC processes and education

• Confusion in processes causing stress and affecting team morale of grantees

• Lack of clarity for grantees in understanding the roles and responsibilities of different parties

• Blocks in grantees abilities to execute their projects due to time delays and ARB value decrease

Projects & Payouts:

$2,583 USD (SI<3>) Time delay to payout: 4 MONTHS

• SI<3> will be able to offer the remaining 25 scholarships to women in Web3 in Africa and bring these women into the future of Web3 identity (the grant category we won first place in out of 30 projects).

$4,400 USD (RadDreams) Time delay to payout: 7 MONTHS

• RadDream will be able to execute its project on ARB which includes adding the ability to auto-deploy NFT collections created and curated by these communities using nothing more than a bot.

$1,775 USD (Everest Mobility) Time delay to payout: 3 MONTHS

• With the additional funds, we will be able to deploy on chain, enable incentivized tokenization and minting rewards, then move on to Digital ID (as SBT) through the drivers KYC onboarding system.

$3,148 USD (AgroForest DAO) Time delay to payout: 4 MONTHS

• AgroForest DAO will be able to continue and onboard more members into the learning journeys using ARB.

$2,700 USD (Play2Learn Games) Time delay to payout: 4 MONTHS

• We have held our payout and with these funds will be able to execute our gaming experience with ARB in our West Africa region.

$5,000 USD Kara Krysthal’s research, communications and advocacy effort for 7 months gathering data and connecting parties (please review comments which shared this feedback and insights are “invaluable” and very helpful for improving future grant rounds)
