Summary It’s a simple feature any admin of a Snapshot group can turn on. This is a proposal for Aavegotchi DAO to toggle on encryption/shielded voting in the Snapshot admin settings. “Shielded voting” is a Snapshot feature using Shutter network’s threshold encryption DKG and keyper set and is developed by Snapshot and Shutter in tandem. More on the release of the feature here:

“Consider a contentious vote in which a minority is pushing the poll early in one direction. Voters that don’t have a strong opinion already formed might see this and think the outcome is already decided. Thus they’ll be discouraged from voting and also from researching/forming an opinion. This could then lead to the vote going in favor of the minority due to voter apathy, which would not be a good outcome, given that the goal of the poll is to represent the majority opinion.” People often are unsure what to vote for and look over the neighbour’s shoulder to see what he voted, often times trying to vote for the majority regardless of your own opinion. My last proposal has been proven right as it ended at a perfect standstill and nobody decided if to vote yes or no, it became a self-fulfilling prophecy as half the people ironically voted with a weight of 50/50, both yes & no.

This of course will not fix many other problems such as our feelings. We might vote yes one day and vote no the next for the same proposal. Perhaps we had a good day and a bad day. Perhaps we rushingly voted yes for 5 proposals in a row. Perhaps we really liked the proposal’s presentation or we completely forgot about it after some time. This also does not fix the fact most people do not read the proposals, let alone the whitepaper inside of them. But it’s a start.
